HIV/AIDS affects everyone.

Right now, 1 out of every 300 people in the United States has HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. There is no cure for AIDS, and there is no vaccine to prevent HIV. Our best hope to end the AIDS epidemic is through biomedical prevention research including vaccines, microbicides, and pre-exposure prophylaxis. You have the power to support the search for safe and effective ways to prevent HIV. HIV/AIDS affects everyone.

With more than 33 million people worldwide living with HIV and more than 20 million lives lost due to HIV/AIDS-related illness, the need for a HIV prevention research remains urgent. Many agencies are working together to develop and test biomedical prevention strategies.

Biomedical prevention research includes HIV vaccine studies, microbicides, PrEP, and other prevention tools. Watch this video on the importance of finding an HIV vaccine.
